# How Big is 7 Centimeters?

7 centimeters is the same as 2.75591 inches. That’s not a far distance at all, but measuring 7 centimeters by eye can be a lot trickier than you initially thought.

So, if you wish to measure a distance by eye and without the use of rulers or tape measures, it might be a good idea to memorize the lengths of everyday objects. Today, I’ll show you 9 things that will help you visualize how big 7 centimeters is.

## BIC Lighter

As far as lighters go, BIC is probably the biggest brand name in the United States. However, BIC is known for its wide range of products, including razors and stationery. Did you know that BIC was founded back in 1945 in France? The official name of the company is Société BIC, and its brand name is a shortened version of the founder’s name (Marcel Bich).

Even though BIC lighters can vary in size, the most commonly used lighter is approximately 3 inches tall. That’s roughly 0.24 centimeters or 2.4 millimeters shy of the full 7 centimeters we are trying to measure.

## Wiffle Ball

Wiffle Ball is an incredibly popular sport among homeowners. The bases only need to be spaced 35 feet apart in a diamond shape, which is perfect for many homeowners with limited backyard space. However, without the perforated ball, you can’t actually play a round of Wiffle Ball with your family, neighbors, and friends.

According to Top End Sports, the typical Wiffle Ball should measure be a minimum of 7.3 centimeters in diameter and a maximum of 8 centimeters. So, a standard Wiffle Ball can be an excellent measuring tool for approximating what 7 centimeters looks like.

## 2 Ping Pong Balls

Ping pong is an entertaining sport for anyone who has time on their hands. That’s why you can commonly find them in office break rooms and even in university recreational spaces. While measuring the dimensions of a ping pong table can help you figure out what 8 meters looks like, you will have to take a look at the ball to measure in centimeters.

A ping pong ball measures around 40 millimeters (4 centimeters) in diameter. So, placing 2 of them side by side will give you a total width of about 8 centimeters, just like a full-sized Wiffle Ball.

## 3 Quarters

One excellent measuring tool you may have in your pocket or wallet right now is a coin. In the United States, there are 4 commonly used coins: the cent, the nickel, the dime, and the quarter. Placing 3 quarters, which are 24.26 millimeters in diameter, will get you pretty close to 7 centimeters. Coincidentally, 3 quarters will also give you a rough estimate of 3 inches.

Alternatively, you could place 4 dimes in a straight line to get even closer to 7 centimeters. Each dime measures 17.91 millimeters across, so 4 of them would add up to 71.64 millimeters.

## Q-Tip

In my guide on How Bis Is 3 Centimeters?, you can take any item on the list and multiply it by 2 to get pretty close to 7 centimeters. That includes half-dollar coins, fox grapes, and D-cell batteries. However, many of you might have a Q-tip in your medicine cabinet right now, which is also a great tool for measuring 6-7 centimeters.

From one cotton end to the other, a full Q-tip will only be 1 centimeter short of 7 centimeters. However, it ultimately depends on the brand since some Q-tips can be shorter or longer.

## Can of Soup

Having a few cans of nonperishable food in your cabinet can be a good idea if you want something to eat quickly or if you’re preparing for long-time bunkering. You may have noticed that food cans come in all sizes, but if you take a look at a standard Campbell’s Condensed Soup Can, it will typically measure about 3 centimeters in diameter.

If you take a look at Gourmet Sleuth’s can size chart, you’ll find that #1 picnic, #8Z and #211 cans measure 2-11/16 inches wide. That’s the same as 2.6875 inches or 6.82 centimeters, which is closer to the 7-centimeter mark than standard 3-inch-wide cans.

## Post-it Note

Post-it notes, which are officially known as sticky notes, are incredibly versatile pieces of stationery. You can write tiny notes on the paper and leave them for the next-shift employee, or you can create reminders for yourself for the following workday. You can also pull off all sorts of post-it-note-related pranks, but that’s another topic for another day.

While Post-in notes can come in a wide range of sizes, one of the more commonly used sizes is 3 inches. Since 3 inches is the same as 7.62 inches, it can give you a pretty good idea of what 7 centimeters roughly looks like.

## 8-ounce Coffee Cup

In my guide on How Much Does a Coffee Mug Weight?, I spoke about how the weight of a coffee mug can depend on its size. The standard coffee mug will typically hold up to 8 fluid ounces of coffee and weighs about 250 to 400 grams. But what about its size?

If you take a look at 8-ounce disposable coffee cups, you may find that they have a bottom diameter of about 2.5 inches. That’s the same as 6.35 centimeters or about 0.65 centimeters shy of the full 7-centimeter length we want to measure by eye.

## Skateboard Wheel

While skateboarding can be a potentially dangerous sport, we can’t ignore its surprising benefits, which include improved reflexes and patience. After all, a newbie skateboard needs to know when to bail and that it takes time to master a particular trick.

A skateboarder should also know which size wheel to get for their deck when it comes time to replace it. Skateboard wheels typically measure between 50 and 75 millimeters, so you would need between 1 and 1.5 of them sitting next to each other to get close to around 7 centimeters.
