Some countries are known for their designer shoes. For instance, Spain is home to shoe brands like Rebeca Sanver, Manolo Blahnik, and Suela Shoes. The only problem is trying to know what shoe size to get since many places have completely different sizing standards.
Luckily, converting US to Spanish shoe sizes and vice versa isn’t too difficult since Spain follows the same exact sizing standard as the EU as a whole. In this guide, I’ll provide a shoe size chart for Spanish shoes and a conversion chart from Spain to US shoe sizes.

Why Do Shoe Sizes Differ Between Countries?

Conversion charts like the ones above exist because different countries follow different shoe sizing standards. In fact, you don’t have to look across the pond to find vastly different shoe sizes. Even different footwear brands originating from the same country can differ in how they measure shoe sizes.
The reason for this is that there is no universal shoe sizing standard. As such, companies and countries are free to follow whatever shoe sizing standard, they wish. That’s why conversion charts like this are incredibly important—you can figure out your shoe size in another country without having to manually measure your foot.
How to Measure Your Foot for Shoe Size
Of course, manually measuring your foot is a much more accurate way to find the correct shoe size.
Remember—different brands have different shoe sizing standards, so to make sure that you find a pair of sneakers that fit your feet snugly, you should measure the length of your foot from heel to toe and give that figure to a sales rep.
Here’s how you measure your foot for a pair of shoes.
- Trace your foot on a sheet of paper. Make sure the paper is longer than your foot.
- Take a ruler and measure the longest part of your foot (from heel to toe) and add 0.25 to 0.5 inches for a bit of wiggle room.
- The width of a shoe is usually set in place, but if a particular brand can custom-size a pair of shoes for you, you should also measure the widest part of your foot and add 0.25 to 0.5 inches to the width measurement.
