How Big Is a Febreze Bottle

Everyone has at least one smelly item in their home. However, instead of doing the laundry or scrubbing away the mold spot in the corner of your bedroom, you can just remove the smell with Febreze! But have you ever wondered how much Febreze is in a Febreze bottle?

Febreze ranges in size from 2.8-ounce travel bottles to 16.9 ounces. The standard Febreze bottle size is 8.8 ounces.

In this guide, I’ll explain what Febreze is used for, what bottle sizes you can pick up, and how to use the various Febreze products, including the Candles and WAX MELTS.

What Is Febreze?

What Is Febreze

Procter & Gamble created and released Febreze in 1996. The carbohydrate beta-cyclodextrin is what gives Febreze its odor-fighting power. Typically derived from corn starch, beta-cyclodextrin is an 8-sugar ringed molecule that is synthesized by enzymatic hydrolysis.

In molecular form, cyclodextrin looks like a doughnut. After being sprayed with Febreze, the odor is partially dissolved by the product’s water, and the dissolved odor molecules form a complex within the “hole” of the cyclodextrin doughnut.

While the odorous molecule is still present, it is unable to activate your nose’s olfactory receptors and thus remains undetectable. Febreze can either completely neutralize odors or replace them with a pleasant scent, like a fruity or floral one, depending on the formulation you use.

Since more odor binds to the cyclodextrin as Febreze dries, the odor molecules in the air decrease, eliminating the smell directly from the source. Add a bit more water, and you can flush away the smell once and for all.

If you pay the official Febreze website a visit, you won’t find very many details regarding the size of the product. What you will find, however, is a wide range of scents that can make the air in your home or car smell wonderful.

Instead, what you can do is look at a retailer’s description of Febreze and meticulously sift through the long list of products and look at their sizes and capacities. I’ve done that for you so you don’t have to!

Febreze air fresheners come in the following sizes:

The most popular Febreze bottle size is 8.8 ounces. An 8.8-ounce bottle is about 2.48 inches wide, 2.32 inches deep, and 9.61 inches tall.

How Do You Use Febreze?

First and foremost, Febreze sells a wide range of products, including pet fresheners. So, depending on what type of Febreze bottle you have on hand, you should be careful how you use them.

FABRIC

Try using Febreze FABRIC to mask and eliminate odors on fibrous surfaces. Spray a bit of Febreze FABRIC on your throw pillows, carpets, car seats, mattress, and any other surface that is a chore to wash!

AIR

Whether someone with smelly shoes just walked in through your front door or your pet has returned from a mud fight with your neighbor’s dog, you can get rid of the smell in the air by applying a bit of Febreze AIR. Simply aim the can upward and spray!

PLUG

Are you tired of spraying Febreze into the air? Then why not pick up a PLUG device and leave it in your bedroom? Febreze PLUG lasts for up to 50 days in small areas, so your room will smell just as nice as it did one and a half months ago!

CAR

After picking up the kids from a soccer match, your car is undoubtedly going to smell like a junior high school locker room. Instead of getting your car deep-cleaned, just clip a Febreze CAR in your car’s AC vent. Whenever you blast the AC, your car will be filled with the floral scent of Febreze.

Candles

Do you want to make your bedroom smell nice while also improving the ambiance? It might be time to pick up a Febreze CANDLE. A single candle can last for up to 30 hours, so you and your partner can enjoy privacy time while inhaling the sweet smell of your favorite flowers.

WAX MELTS

Febreze has come up with a fun and creative way to infuse your home with lovely scents. Just break off a piece of Febreze WAX MELTS, place the piece in your favorite electric warmer, and it will perfume your room as the wax slowly melts. A single piece of wax will last for between 5 and 8 hours.

Should You Shake a Can of Febreze?

No, you shouldn’t.

Febreze contains pressurized nitrogen, which is the main propellent that sprays the odor-eliminating liquid out of the can. Shaking a can of Febreze or any nitrogen-filled can will cause excess nitrogen to shoot out of the can the moment you depress the button. What may happen is that your can of Febreze will run out of nitrogen, and it will be virtually impossible to spray the odor-eliminating liquid.

So, when using Febreze and other nitrogen-pressurized cans, do not shake them before use!

How Long Does Febreze Last?

On average, the aroma of a single spray of Febreze will linger for roughly 2 hours. That said, there are several factors that can affect how long the scent of Febreze lingers after applying it on a smelly spot. For instance, if you leave the window open, or if you turn on a fan, the aroma will dissipate pretty quickly.

If you use Febreze plug-in devices, a single tank of the aromatic liquid should last anywhere from 30 to 50 days in small rooms. However, the larger the room, the less prominent the aroma becomes.

Where Can You Use Febreze?

Febreze can be used virtually anywhere you want in your home, as long as it doesn’t get in your food, drink, or places where you don’t want a floral scent.

You can use Febreze to add a lovely scent to your laundry, to remove the terrible smell of your shoes, to get rid of foul pet smells, and to eliminate nose-wrinkling moisture odors from basements, bathrooms, winter clothing, and so on.
